Welcome to Golden Eagle Hotel
The Golden Eagle Hotel, nestled at 402 Broadway in San Francisco’s vibrant North Beach district, presents a mixed yet intriguing experience for travelers seeking affordability and a prime location. With a modest rating of 3.4, this hotel appeals primarily to visitors drawn by the lively Italian restaurants, historic Beat Generation landmarks, and iconic Coit Tower just steps away.
Guests appreciate the attentive and friendly staff, who often become a highlight amidst the hotel’s challenges. The hotel provides essential amenities such as Wi-Fi and parking, though travelers should note the absence of on-site dining, fitness facilities, or a pool, placing a stronger emphasis on exploring the surrounding neighborhood.
However, prospective visitors should brace for compact rooms on a bustling street, and reports of cleanliness issues, including bedbugs, underscore the need for vigilance. Some reviews describe under-resourced housekeeping and dated management practices that detract from the overall stay, reflecting a tension between value and comfort.
Despite these drawbacks, the Golden Eagle Hotel stands as a practical base for those eager to immerse themselves in North Beach’s cultural pulse without stretching their budget. It demands a pragmatic mindset: if you prioritize location and community vibe over luxury, this hotel may suffice. Ultimately, it offers a gritty yet genuine San Francisco lodging experience that resonates with the city’s raw, urban character.

Well, without physically making it into the hotel I was able to perceive my relative low to know experience with the hotel in a comparison with past couple of experiences I have had with the location that is quite conveie to In. I loved the staff and the few residents I met. I also love north beach-- so much nicer than the tenderloin. My one issue was the bedbugs. I don't know where they were coming from but they kept coming. I killed one this morning as I was checking out.
As cheap as u will find in sf, just be prepared to clean up yourself the staff is good it's the company that runs this place that sucks , freaking slumlords, they give the staff. A bottle of bleach and some rags and 1 nasty mop to clean with. I wish some judge would make them live for a weak in the very worst bug infested room that they rent out for 645-1000$ a month
Very small rooms and sits on a busy street but still is a good place.
